Jumbo Wild

Jumbo Wild is a feature length documentary by Sweetgrass Productions that documents the 25 year struggle by First Nations, back-country skiers and conservationists to protect the Jumbo Valley from development. Now available on Netflix, the film raises the question of what wilderness means, contrasting the belief of the Ktunaxa Nation who revere the Jumbo Valley as the sacred home of the grizzly bear spirit, with European developer Oberto Oberti who envisions Jumbo ski resort as the pinnacle of human progress.

For this production I had the honour of shooting interview footage with local environmentalists and First Nations in the East and West Kootenays of British Columbia, and further assisting the production as a Researcher and Assistant Producer.
