This short doc, commissioned by Smithsonian Folkways, is a deep dive into the making of Pharis & Jason’s Romero’s Juno award winning album ‘Tell ‘Em You Were Gold‘.
Over the course of the summer and fall of 2022, myself and Trent Freeman spent two weeks at Pharis & Jason’s ranch in Horsefly, BC, documenting Jason hand building custom banjos and Pharis process of song writing. The film culminates in the live recording of their award winning album in their restored barn. This film was a labour of love that was conceived, filmed, and edited by Trent Freeman and myself.
